Hawke's Bay Police stopped around 200 vehicles attending a meet-up last night, and were shot at by fireworks

Police received over 30 calls about illegal street racing and traffic offending overnight.

Police say on arrival, the group aimed fireworks at the officers, who went on to impound at least 9 vehicles.

Police are still collating the results of the evening, however dozens of people were in breach of licensing conditions and committing other offences.

A number were over the legal breath- or blood-alcohol level and summonsed to Court, while others were arrested.
