A few showers about Northland, increasing this morning and gradually spreading south. Showers turning to rain in Northland from the afternoon or evening, with some heavy and possibly thundery falls.
Bay of Plenty, Waikato, Waitomo and the central high country
Cloud increasing, with a few spots of rain possible in the afternoon or evening.
Taranaki to Wellington
Partly cloudy, fine spells increasing in the afternoon.
Gisborne to Wairarapa
Cloudy with scattered rain in Gisborne and Hawke's Bay and isolated showers in Wairarapa.
Marlborough and Canterbury
Cloudy periods, with isolated showers north of Christchurch, becoming mainly fine elsewhere.
The rest of the South Island
Fine, apart from a few areas of morning cloud in the east and south.
Chatham Islands
Mainly fine.
