    Mainly fine at first with increasing high cloud. Scattered showers developing
    this afternoon.

    The remaining forecast areas
    Cloudy with scattered showers, turning into occasional rain during this morning,
    possibly heavy at times.

    WINDS
    Northwesterlies.

    FREEZING LEVEL
    Above 3000 metres.


    south island



    Kaikoura and Richmond ranges, Kahurangi and Nelson Lakes National Parks
    Cloudy periods with scattered showers, clearing Kaikoura ranges in the afternoon.

    Southern Alps north of Arthur's Pass
    Cloudy periods.

    The Southern Alps south of Arthur's Pass, Mount Aspiring and Fiordland
    Fine, apart from isolated showers in Fiordland, clearing in the afternoon.

    WINDS
    Northwesterlies.

    FREEZING LEVEL
    About 3500 metres, sloping to 2500 metres in Fiordland.
