Clearing from the south this afternoon, but a few showers persist for Fiordland. Kaikoura Ranges Mainly fine, with some high cloud. Cloud increasing this afternoon, with the chance of a shower. WINDS Strong westerlies, gale in exposed places, possibly severe south of Mt Cook for a time this morning. FREEZING LEVEL 3000 metres in the north, sloping to 2000 metres in Fiordland.
