Brief forecast for the Mountains up to midnight on Friday 15 November
Isolated showers this afternoon, becoming widespread this evening, some heavy
with hail and possible thunderstorms, and snow lowering to 1500 metres. Showers
gradually clearing tomorrow morning, but rain or drizzle developing south and
west of the Volcanoes from tomorrow afternoon.
Gale northwesterlies, severe in exposed places.
Above 3000 metres, lowering to 1800 metres this evening, then gradually rising
to 2600 metres tomorrow.
For Fiordland, Mt Aspiring, Westland and Mt Cook National Parks
Showers, with snow to about 1100 metres, clearing this evening. Rain developing
tomorrow morning, with heavy falls and snow above 1600 metres.
Remaining mountain parks
Showers, some heavy with hail and possible thunderstorms from this afternoon,
with snow to about 1500 metres. Showers becoming isolated tomorrow morning, then
rain developing tomorrow afternoon, with snow above 1800 metres.
Gale northwesterlies, gradually easing from the south today, then rising to gale
again tomorrow, with severe gales in exposed places.
1800 metres metres in the north, sloping to 1300 metres in the south, rising to
tomorrow to 2400 metres in the north and 1900 metres in the south.
