    Brief forecast for the Mountains up to midnight on Saturday 21 September

    north island

    Raukumara to Tararua Forest Park
    A few showers, gradually clearing from the south tomorrow.

    Remaining mountain parks
    Mainly fine, but a shower or two possible about Tongariro National Park this

    Southerlies, strong in exposed places dying out tomorrow.

    About 2600 metres in the west sloping to 1600 metres in the east, becoming 2600
    metres everywhere tomorrow.

    south island

    Fiordland National Park
    Fine today, cloudy periods and a few showers developing from tomorrow morning,
    mainly about the Fiords.

    Remaining mountain parks
    Mainly fine, but isolated afternoon showers possible about Kahurangi National
    Park this afternoon.

    Southerlies gradually dying out today. Northwesterlies developing
    about Fiordland tonight and strengthening tomorrow.

    About 2400 metres in the west, sloping to 1600 metres in the east, then rising
    to 2600 metres everywhere tonight.
