    Tongariro National Park, Te Papa-Kura-o-Taranaki, Ruahine Forest Park and Tararuas
    Mostly cloudy. A few showers, turning to rain about the Tararuas this evening.

    Kaweka to Raukumara Forest Park
    Cloudy periods with isolated showers this afternoon and evening.

    WINDS
    Gale westerlies, rising to severe gale this afternoon.

    FREEZING LEVEL
    3000 metres.


    south island



    West of the Main Divide Mostly cloudy with showers or rain, possibly heavy. Thunderstorms possible for Fiordland and Mount Aspiring this morning and again from evening. East of the Main Divide: Party cloudy, scattered rain spreading north. Snow to 1800 metres, then lowering to 1300 metres in the south this afternoon.

    WINDS
    Severe gale northwesterlies.

    FREEZING LEVEL
    2700 metres, sloping to 1500 metres in the south this evening.
