    north island



    Egmont and Tongariro National Parks
    Becoming cloudy with a few showers developing this afternoon.

    Raukumara to Kaweka ranges
    Fine, late high cloud.

    Ruahine and Tararua ranges
    Mostly cloudy with a few showers in the west.

    WINDS
    Northwesterlies developing, gale in the Tararua Rages from afternoon and the Ruahine Ranges from evening.

    FREEZING LEVEL
    About 1600 metres rising to 2400 metres.


    south island



    Kaikoura ranges
    High cloud.

    Kahurangi and Nelson Lakes National Parks, and the Southern Alps
    Cloudy with a few showers. Rain developing south of Arthur's Pass this evening, with snow to about 1700 metres.

    Fiordland National Park
    Showers turning to rain, with heavy falls developing in the afternoon or evening, and snow to about 1700 metres.

    WINDS
    Northwesterlies rising to severe gale south of Mt Cook this evening.

    FREEZING LEVEL
    About 1400 metres, rising to 2000 metres.
