Severe weather warnings and watches are in force for many parts of the country.
Northland and Taranaki
Scattered rain becoming widespread, with heavy falls from afternoon.
Auckland to Waitomo, Taumarunui and Taupo, also Coromandel and Bay of Plenty
Cloudy. Scattered rain, becoming more persistent late afternoon and evening.
Whanganui and Taihape to Wellington
Mostly cloudy. A few spots of rain, more frequent this afternoon or evening.
Gisborne to Wairarapa
Mostly cloudy. A few spots of rain late evening.
Buller to Fiordland, Nelson, also Marlborough excluding the Kaikoura Coast
Rain with heavy falls.
The Kaikoura Coast, and Canterbury
Cloudy. Scattered rain, especially north of Ashburton.
Otago and Southland
Mostly cloudy, with patchy rain until evening, but fine spells for Otago from afternoon.
Chatham Islands
Cloudy periods. A few showers from afternoon.
