Northland to Taranaki, including the central high country, Coromandel Peninsula, Bay of Plenty, Hawke's Bay and Gisborne
Periods of heavy rain with possible thunderstorms and downpours, easing from the west in the morning to fine spells and isolated showers, with rain becoming confined to eastern Bay of Plenty. Rain in the east clears in the afternoon.
Whanganui to Wellington, including, Wairarapa
Periods of rain, with thunderstorms and downpours possible this evening. Scattered showers tomorrow, and thunderstorms possible in Wairarapa from the afternoon.
Buller to Westland
Occasional rain, clearing tomorrow afternoon.
Nelson, Marlborough and Canterbury
Persistent rain about Canterbury and the Kaikoura Coast, heavy at times. Rain, possibly thundery, about northern Nelson and Marlborough tonight. Elsewhere, scattered showers becoming widespread for a time later tomorrow, with some heavy falls possible.
Southland, Otago and Fiordland
Rain about North Otago and Dunedin, easing to showers later tomorrow. Elsewhere, isolated showers, but becoming fine in Fiordland tomorrow.
Chatham Islands
Rain at times, possibly heavy and thundery.
