Regional New Zealand is facing challenging times as local economies slow

The March Infometrics Monitor reveals economic activity has increased just zero point two percent over a year - the slowest growth since the first Covid-19 lockdown.
Building consents are down almost 25 percent, but the Tasman District is the worst affected, falling almost 60 percent over the year.
Tasman District Mayor Tim King says the region's primary industries are all struggling.
He says it's unusual for all sectors to be facing difficult times at once.
