Changes to the Accredited Employer Work Visa scheme are coming into effect

Changes to the Accredited Employer Work Visa scheme are coming into effect

    10 March 2025
Late last year, the Government announced it would remove the median wage threshold.

Immigration Minister Erica Stanford says it distorted wages, and in some cases resulted in businesses paying migrant workers more than New Zealanders doing the same job.

Other changes include reducing the minimum experience requirement for lower skilled migrants, and increasing the visa duration for new applicants in Level 4 to 5 roles.

The income threshold for visa holders to support a dependent child, is also being inflation adjusted.
