A financial commentator's urging the Government to stay the course on climate reporting rules - and not change them

A financial commentator's urging the Government to stay the course on climate reporting rules - and not change them

    22 October 2025
The Government's proposing no longer requiring managed investment funds like Kiwisaver - to make annual climate-related disclosures.

It also wants to lift the reporting threshold for listed companies from those worth 60-million dollars, to one-billion.

Mindful Money co-CEO, Barry Coates, says the disclosures should continue - as businesses have already paid the initial cost of setting up reporting systems.

He says there's been real benefits in the process helping the company in the way they operate and consider climate change.
