The good news is that the spike in the cost of beans in the past two years, has stabilised.
Rabobank commodities analyst Paul Joules says drought in Brazil, the world's dominant coffee grower, led to an 86 per cent spike in Arabica bean futures - the benchmark price for wholesale importers - since the start of 2024.
Prices are now easing down from the record highs of last February.
The bad news: consumers won't pay less anytime soon, because of other price rises cafes and supermarkets have faced.
