    Investment in rail, trucks and shipping is necessary for efficient freighting around the country

    This comes from the Maritime Union following the Government's announcement yesterday of rail's future over the next decade.

    The plan envisions upgrades for passengers and freight on urban and national networks.

    Maritime Union Spokesperson Craig Harrison says costal shipping needs to see similar funding and planning.

    He says someone needs to take charge of a national transport strategy that delivers for all of New Zealand.
