The Government has launched a new Aquaculture Development Plan in a bid to boost the economy

The Government has launched a new Aquaculture Development Plan in a bid to boost the economy

    8 March 2025
Oceans and Fisheries Minister Shane Jones, says it's expected to grow the sector three-billion dollars in annual revenue by 2035, and double jobs.

It follows previous announcements to support aquaculture, including extending marine consents and approving New Zealand's first open ocean salmon farm.

Jones also announced a nine-point-nine million dollar loan to improve Havelock Marina -- a central hub for greenshell mussels.
