The Finance Minister is disappointed to see the United States increase its planned tariff on New Zealand

    1 August 2025
US President Donald Trump's confirmed the base tariff has been raised to 15 percent, from 10 percent - and is expected to come into force in about a week's time.

Nicola Willis says this is unwelcome news, but she backs exporters.

She says we've put our position very clearly to the US, that we charge low tariffs and have a long history of friendship.
