Businesses are expecting weaker profitability and fewer hiring options in the next business quarter

Businesses are expecting weaker profitability and fewer hiring options in the next business quarter

    7 April 2020
The Economic Research Institute's Quarterly Business Opinion survey shows a net 67 per cent of businesses expecting deterioration in general economic conditions.

Responses were received until three days before the lockdown was announced.

Principal economist Christina Leung says a lot of businesses are pessimistic - and will look at cutting operational spending and staff numbers due to economic uncertainty.
