It's thought the cost-of-living crisis could bring a silver-lining to Kiwis student loans

It's thought the cost-of-living crisis could bring a silver-lining to Kiwis student loans

    25 April 2024
New Zealand's one of the few countries that doesn't apply indexation to loan totals -- meaning no adjustments to account for inflation.

North Harbour Budgeting Services' David Verry says young Kiwis are better off sticking to the minimum loan-repayment amounts -- than rushing to pay it off as soon as possible.

He says the longer people extend it out -- the less they're effectively paying back -- as inflation eats away at the total.
