A front followed by southerlies moves up the east of the South Island and the lower North Island tomorrow. Sunday, a cool showery southwest flow persists over the country. A high slowly builds across New Zealand from Monday, blanketing the country by the end of Tuesday. A northwest flow strengthens over the lower South Island late on Wednesday. Forecast for Manukau Harbour issued at 1104hrs Friday 23-Jan-2026 *Gale warning in force* Friday: Westerly 15 knots, rising to 25 knots gusting 35 knots in the afternoon, and to 30 knots gusting 40 knots in the evening.
