![]() Recreational Marine: Bay of Plenty Marine Weather Situation and Forecast issued at 0337hrs Sunday 19-Oct-2025 by MetService Situation: A couple of fronts move north across New Zealand today followed by a narrow ridge of high pressure, then another front approaches Fiordland from the west late Sunday. On Monday, the front off Fiordland moves northeast over the South Island. On Tuesday high pressure over the North Island shifts east as a front moves over the Cook Straight, weakening as it does so. Showery westerlies follow the front, affecting the western and southern areas of the South Island. On Wednesday, a narrow ridge spreads across the country and a new front approaches the western areas of the South Island from the Tasman Sea late in the day. On Thursday, that front moves over the south island ending the day over the central North Island. Forecast for Inshore waters from Matakana Island to Mayor Island to Motiti Island and then east to Torere River mouth Nil warnings Sunday: Variable 5 knots. Northwest 15 knots developing in the morning. Rising to northwest 20 knots for a time in the afternoon. Sea becoming moderate for a time in the afternoon. Partly cloudy, chance shower. Northerly swell half a metre. Monday: Northwest 15 knots. Fine. Northerly swell 1 metre dying out. Tuesday: Northwest 20 knots. Partly cloudy. Northerly swell 1 metre developing.
