Recreational Marine: Bay of Plenty Marine Weather Situation and Forecast issued at 1633hrs Monday 08-Dec-2025 by MetService Situation: A ridge persists over the North Island. A couple of fronts move north over the South Island and weaken today. Another front approaches the far south of the South Island from the south Tasman Sea late tomorrow. A front moves slowly northwards over the South Island on Wednesday and weakens, while, another front, which is followed by a change to strong southwesterlies, brings areas of rain to the southern and eastern South Island on Thursday. Meanwhile, a weak ridge of high pressure persists over the North Island, keeping a subtropical low pressure system to the northeast of the North Island at arm's length. A strong southwesterly flow spreads northwards over New Zealand on Friday. Forecast for Inshore waters from Matakana Island to Mayor Island to Motiti Island and then east to Torere River mouth Nil warnings Monday: Northerly 10 knots, easing to variable 5 knots this evening.
