 Recreational Marine: Bay of Islands Marine Weather Situation and Forecast issued at 2030hrs Tuesday 01-Jul-2025 by MetService NIL for BRETT Situation: A large ridge of high pressure covers most of the country today, and weakens over central and southern New Zealand tomorrow. Meanwhile, showery westerlies continue in the far south, while a moist northeasterly flow develops over northern New Zealand, followed by an approaching front. On Thursday, a front moves southeastwards over northern and central New Zealand bringing heavy rain and strong northeast winds to many regions. On Friday, the front moves east of the country. On Saturday, a low in the Tasman Sea moves onto the North Island while a weak ridge moves onto southern New Zealand. Forecast issued at 1659hrs Tuesday 01-Jul-2025 Valid to 8 pm Tuesday for Bay of Islands Recreational Marine Area. Strong wind advisory. Tuesday: Southeast 10 knots, turning easterly 10 knots this evening. Sea slight. Cloudy periods. Easterly swell 1 metre. Wednesday: Easterly 10 knots, rising to 15 knots in the morning, then rising to northeast 20 knots in the afternoon, before reaching 25 knots gusting 35 knots in the evening. Sea becoming rough in the evening. Mostly cloudy, with fair visibility in a few showers developing in the morning. Northeast swell 1 metre rising to 1.5 metres. Outlook until midnight Saturday: Thursday: Northerly 25 knots, rising to northerly 35 knots in the morning, then easing to 15 knots in the afternoon. Rain, clearing.
