    Thursday:
    Northerly 35 knots but 25 knots south of Kaikoura Peninsula. Becoming westerly 25 knots everywhere in the morning. Turning southerly 25 knots in the evening. Very rough sea in the north, easing. Northerly swell 2 metres, easing. Southwest swell 1 metre. Poor visibility in showers, with thunderstorms possible afternoon and evening.

    Friday:
    Southwest 25 knots, easing to 15 knots in the morning. Changing northeast 20 knots in the afternoon. Rough sea easing. Moderate southerly swell developing.

    Saturday:
    Northerly 20 knots, rising to 30 knots north of Kaikoura Peninsula later. Sea becoming rough in the north. Moderate southerly swell dying out. Moderate northeast swell developing.

    Sunday:
    Northerly 20 knots but 30 knots north of Kaikoura Peninsula, rising to 35 knots everywhere early. Sea becoming very rough. Moderate northeast swell.
