However, a weak front moves over the far south of the South Island from the west. Tomorrow, the ridge continues to build. A ridge of high pressure dominates northern and central New Zealand Monday to Wednesday. Meanwhile, a weak front passes over the lower South Island on Tuesday. Forecast issued at 2252hrs Friday 09-May-2025 Valid to 1 am Saturday for Inshore waters from Waitarere to Pukerua Bay and out to Kapiti Island. Saturday: Southerly 10 knots but 15 knots south of Kapiti Island, becoming variable 5 knots but southerly 10 knots in the south late morning. Northwest 10 knots developing south of Kapiti island this afternoon, turning northeast 10 knots in the south this evening. Sea slight. Fine. Westerly swell 1 metre easing. Outlook until midnight Tuesday: Sunday: Northeast 10 knots, easing to variable 5 knots in the morning. Fine. Westerly swell half a metre or less.
