The front moves north over the North Island on Thursday while weakening, while a southwest flow becomes established over the country in the wake of the front. The southwest flow weakens on Friday as a high moves across the country. A northwest flow builds again over the country on Saturday as another front approaches from the Tasman Sea. The front then moves north over the country on Sunday. Forecast for Inshore waters from Pukerua Bay to Makara Beach * Gale warning in force * Wednesday: Northwest 25 knots gusting 35 knots, rising to 30 knots gusting 40 knots in the morning and to 35 knots gusting 45 knots in the afternoon. Sea becoming very rough in the afternoon. Mostly cloudy, fair visibility in a few showers. Northwest swell rising to 3 metres. Thursday: Northwest 30 knots, easing to westerly 20 knots in the afternoon. Rain, clearing. Northwest swell 3 metres easing. Friday: Turning southerly 20 knots early. Changing northerly 15 knots later. Cloud clearing and becoming fine. Westerly swell 2 metres easing. Saturday: Northerly 15 knots, rising to northwest 25 knots early. Partly cloudy.
