However, a weak front moves over the far south of the South Island from the west. Tomorrow, the ridge continues to build. A ridge of high pressure dominates northern and central New Zealand Monday to Wednesday. Meanwhile, a weak front passes over the lower South Island on Tuesday. Forecast issued at 2252hrs Friday 09-May-2025 Valid to 1 am Saturday for Inshore waters between Cape Kidnappers and Portland Island. Saturday: Variable 5 knots. Southwest 20 knots developing early morning, easing to 15 knots late morning, then easing to southerly 10 knots this afternoon. Becoming variable 5 knots again this evening.
